June, 2003 was a month of very big news. The website http://www.PostNeoExplosionism.com
has launched this morning. It marks the official arrival of the collective
of three of the biggest rock poster artists, Emek, Justin Hampton and Jermaine
Rogers known as PNE. Working as one united front they will be covering
more of the growing landscape of rock posters than ever before.
As part of this new beginning, PNE would like to announce the upcoming art
show in Manchester, England at the Richard Goodall Gallery...'UGLY AMERICANS:
The Art Of Post Neo Explosionism'. The show will run from June 20th, 2003
through August 20th, 2003. View many pivotal works from the founders of PNE,
including prints, original art, and unused studies from the recent PNE/Queens
Of The Stone Age series. There will also be 'classic' rare prints on display
and available, as well as paintings and 'fine-art' print work.
On June 20th, there will be an opening reception at the gallery and the 3
PNE artists will be in attendance. The Queens Of The Stone Age will be in
Manchester playing to a sold out crowd later that very night. Hmmm....the
possibilties.
We hope everyone in the U.K. can make it out. It should be quite a nice time.
Good posters, new projects, and very special surprise guests. Thanks
for taking a look, the future is looking bright.

COAST TO COAST: Contemporary Award Winning Graphic Design
edited by R. Klanten, H. Hellige, Ken Coupland, S. Ehmann
208 PAGES 24 x 30 cm released: December 2002 Price: $55.00 ¤49.90 ISBN: 3-931126-90-0 full colour, HARDCOVER

Coast to Coast: An astute re-evaluation of the fading American dream, Coast to Coast is America grown up: it takes you on a non-stop, whirlwind ride through the non-commercial, non-commissioned work of young designers from Boston to San Francisco. Every influence America has ever exerted upon itself has found its place in this monster collection: Take the itchiest, scratchiest typography known to man, add Flash-y image manipulation, swirl in some acid ice cream colours, 50s billboard posters and a nod to David Carson, add a spot of tagging and revolutionary web design
and you end up with very a potent graphic cocktail. Handle with care! Including a preface by American design expert and co-editor Ken Coupland (Wired, ResFest) as well as profiles and interviews of the participants, Coast to Coast is divided into five broad sections: Deconstructive Typography, Urban Art, the Digital Realm, Rock style and the ubiquitous American Retro. The first publication to condense decades of influence, lifestyles and an entire generation of US graphic designers into such a compact yet comprehensive collection, Coast to Coast is both documentation and a defining guide for this brand new, distinctly American style.

thank you so much to all who came out and supported. It was a lot of hard work, but totally worth it and I made some great friends in Justin Hampton and Jermain Rogers.

There are so many pictures from this show, I will have to make a special page to post all the press and pics.

*this is a "fine art" show, sorry, no posters, but, some cool new paintings..
So, Emek, are you single? 4 hours in front of the camera for 5 minutes of T.V.-
oh well, such is life for our busy young poster artist...
What all you little pyros and future iron lung patients have been waiting for!!
That's right! You can smoke your life away and view rock art at the same time with a new EMEK original image
right on your own personal zippo lighter. Makes a great gift...or butt plug.

THE GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL in San Francisco - one of America's premiere venues for classic rock poster art -
hosts an exhibit of America's premiere Rock and Roll artists, including Stanley Mouse, Victor Moscoso, Winston Smith
...and EMEK. Show posters by EMEK are now available.

"Well, I thought it was going to be really cool, many of these people have not seen good poster art since Rick Griffin smoked out the 'Dead here back in '76, but the Beduins did not appreciate the pedantic anti-western hegemony espoused by Marilyn Manson, so the whole show ended up being a disaster, I ended up having to hide in a cave for a week..."
EMEK was in Berlin recently for his one-man show, featuring his Rock n' Roll Artworks.
The show lasted from February 13 to April 16, 1999 and was held at the Flying Piston Gallery in Berlin, Germany.
